The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov and the Mayor of Blagoevgrad municipality Atanas Kambitov signed a grant agreement for the construction of an anaerobic installation for the processing of biodegradable waste.
The grant contract is worth over 36 million BGN. The financial resource is intended for the construction of an anaerobic installation for separately collected biodegradable waste. The contract was signed at an official ceremony in Sofia at the end of 2018, and the document was paraphed by the mayors and the other four municipalities, which will use the regional depot in Blagoevgrad - Simitli, Rila, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo.
With the realization of the project, the amount of the deposited waste will be reduced and its recycling and recovery will be encouraged. Biodegradable waste will be processed and treated in an environmentally safe way that will contribute to the fulfillment and achievement of the national targets set by the current legislation.
The construction of the anaerobic installation for separately collected biodegradable waste is of exceptional ecological significance for the Blagoevgrad region, including the municipalities Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Rila, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo.
